REDWOOD CITY, California September 12th, 2012 – SEVEN Networks®, a provider of innovative mobile solutions that reduce smartphone signaling and data traffic on wireless networks, announced Martin McKendry has joined the company as its new senior vice president of engineering and operations, reporting to Ross Bott, president and CEO at SEVEN.
McKendry will be responsible for managing and coordinating the efforts of the engineering team as well as overseeing the design and development of all products.
SEVEN is known for Open Channel™, an end-to-end mobile traffic optimization solution that lowers the signaling load on wireless networks and cuts the time a device spends in a connected state by 40 percent without affecting the user experience. Open Channel simply eliminates unnecessary traffic such as chatter generated by mobile apps that request network connections even if there is no content updates to be made.
Prior to joining SEVEN, McKendry served as Senior Vice President at Openwave, where he revitalized the mobility product line that led to two new products and opened multiple strategic partnerships. Before that, he held the position of Vice President of Avaya running a team of 700 in the application communication group and was responsible for Avaya’s India operation. McKendry also has extensive experience with leading and managing large and small engineering teams in many countries including, India, Ireland, UK and Germany.
McKendry holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, and a doctorate in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL.
