REDWOOD CITY, California May 19th, 2011 – SEVEN® Networks, a provider of innovative mobile solutions that deliver a Real Life, Real Time experience, announced that Michael Luna, chief technology officer, will speak as part of the Wireless Communications Alliance (WCA) panel on Mobile Data Offload at this year’s ConnectivityWeek, happening May 23-26 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif.
WCA is a non-profit business league dedicated to providing education, connection, and community for companies, organizations, and individuals involved with wireless technologies. In conjunction with ConnectivityWeek, WCA Mobile SIG will present a seminar on Tuesday, May 24th at 1:30 p.m. to discuss newly proposed solutions to mobile data congestion in cellular networks and their impact on the major wireless carriers. The panel will address the role of mobile packet offload for both currently deployed (3G) and next generation (4G/LTE) systems.
“With analysts projecting billions of mobile app downloads on smartphones by 2015, operators must take control of the resulting network congestion and signaling overload now before the problem balloons further out of control,” Luna said. “Attacking the billions of unnecessary network access requests that make up the bulk of the signaling problem using traffic optimization solutions such as Open Channel provides a cost effective way to have an immediate impact.”
Joining Luna on the panel include thought leaders from BelAir Networks, Ericsson, Powerwave Technologies and Verizon Wireless. The panel will be moderated by Stefan Pongratz, financial analyst, mobility infrastructure market research at Dell'Oro Group.
As CTO for SEVEN, Luna is responsible for the company's long-term technology and innovation strategy. Prior to joining SEVEN, Luna held leadership positions with Jawbone, Openwave Systems and 724 Solutions. Luna has co-authored industry standards and held industry leadership positions in OMA, WAP Forum, CDG, TIA and PCMIA.
